SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability & Ethics at PT King Trading
Sustainability at PT King Trading is not a marketing position. It is built into how we source materials, how we run our facility, and how we treat the people who work here. These practices are consistent across both our Swimwear Bali and Activewear Bali divisions.
Certified Recycled Fabrics
REPREVE® recycled nylon and polyester — produced from post-consumer plastic bottles and ocean-bound plastics.
Carvico and Jersey Lomellina recycled nylon — sourced from salvaged fishing nets and pre-consumer waste.
Power Fit Korea — recycled compression polyester for activewear
These materials reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to virgin fabrics and carry GRS (Global Recycled Standard), OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and U-Trust® certification. Despite being recycled, they perform to the same standard as virgin materials — soft, durable, UV 50+ protective, and resistant to saltwater, chlorine, and repeated stretch.
Tax-Free Licence & Ethical Compliance
PT King Trading operates under Indonesia’s government tax-free manufacturing licence — the only facility of its type in Bali. This licence allows us to import premium fabrics tax-free, saving up to 35% on fabric costs that we pass directly to our clients. It is granted by the Indonesian government only to manufacturers that meet strict regulatory requirements covering ethical labour practices, workplace safety, and environmental compliance. Maintaining this licence requires ongoing compliance inspections and documentation. It is not a marketing certification — it is a legal operating framework that carries real accountability.
Our Workforce
We employ more than 250 staff on a long-term basis. Our team receive:
- Wages above local market standards, in most cases, double or more.
- Full medical insurance — covering the employee, their spouse, and up to three children
- A daily, freshly prepared hot meal
- Safe, well-maintained working conditions
Long-term employment is not incidental — it is deliberate. Retaining skilled technicians over many years is what allows us to maintain consistent quality and develop craft-level expertise in stretch-fabric construction.
Environmental Practices
- Biodegradable zip-lock bags are used for all outgoing garments.
- Reduced-waste fabric cutting methods applied across both divisions
- Water purification systems support washing and print-related processes
- Printing produced using eco-friendly dyes from DyStar (Germany) and Huntsman (US)
- Digital and sublimation printing technology minimises water usage compared to traditional dyeing.
Community Support
We provide ongoing support to Bali Street Mums, a Bali-based organisation working with mothers and children facing extreme hardship. Our contribution helps fund access to safe housing, healthcare, basic needs, and education for vulnerable families in the community we operate in.
